17.12.2025 Dr. Hu Awarded Summa cum laude on His PhD Denfese

Dr. Haoyu Hu has successfully defended his PhD thesis under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Yamirka Rojas-Agramonte and was awarded the highest distinction, summa cum laude. The public defense took place on 17 December 2025 in the main lecture hall of the Institute of Geology.

His PhD thesis, entitled “The Greater Antilles Arc of Cuba: A Natural Laboratory to Understand the Evolution of Intra-Oceanic Convergent Margin Magmatism,” represents an outstanding contribution to the understanding of magmatic processes in intra-oceanic convergent margins.
