Research Profile:

The overarching goal of my research is to contribute to a better understanding of the evolution of the "earth system", with special consideration of the interplay between low- and high-latitude climate processes as well as marine and terrestrial teleconnections. Such an understanding allows to constrain future scenarios of an increasingly anthropogenically influenced world. In this regard, my post-doctoral work at Heidelberg University aims to investigate potential links between abrupt environmental change during the Holocene and the socioeconomic evolution of early civilizations in the Eastern Mediterranean region. This project will rely on newly recovered sediment archives recovered during expedition M144 of the research vessel "Meteor" in winter 2017/2018.

During my previous research projects at National Taiwan University, Université du Québec à Montréal and Utrecht University I have focused on the reconstruction of (i) East Asian Monsoonal variability in the South China Sea during the Plio-Pleistocene, (ii) North Atlantic Deep Water variability during the Late Pleistocene in the outer Labrador Sea, and (iii) Mediterranean Outflow Water variability in the Gulf of Cadiz and its impact on the North Atlantic hydrography throughout the past 2.6 million years.
