Junior Research Group Cambrian of Avalonia

Early Palaeozoic Palaeontology

Fossils from Avalonia, in particular small shelly fossils and trilobites, are among the first shelly fossils in earth history. They can help determine the age of Avalonian rocks, and give insight into Early Palaeozoic palaeoecology and palaeogeographic position of Avalonia during this time.

Early Palaeozoic Sedimentology

Avalonian sediments are an important Palaeozoic archive. Modern analytics combined with basic sedimentological research aims for a better understanding of the depositional environment, the palaeoenvironment and diagenesis of Avalonian rocks.
