Research focus

I focus on ice volume dynamics of the Antarctic ice sheet during the early Miocene (ca. 20 – 17 ma). During my PhD, I will create a high-resolution record using the proxies δ18O and Mg/Ca to understand the (sub-)orbital influences on the Antarctic ice sheet.

Academic career

  • Since 01/2026: PhD candidate at the Institute of Geosciences, Heidelberg University, Heidelberg, Germany. Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Oliver Friedrich.   
  • 09/2023 – 12/2025: M.Sc. Earth Sciences at the department of Earth Sciences. Utrecht University, Utrecht, The Netherlands. Thesis title: “Palaeo-heating at the Klasies River Main Site During the Middle Stone Age in South Africa, Insights from clumped isotopes thermometry and Raman Spectroscopy on ostracod specimens and charcoal fragments from the Klasies River deposits”, Supervisors: Dr. Martin Ziegler, Dr.  Ellie Jane Pryor.
