Research Profile:
I am working in the field of tephrochronology, a method that uses volcanic ash layers for dating and synchronizing high-resolution sediment records from the terrestrial and marine realm. I am particularly specialized in Late Quaternary Eastern Mediterranean tephrostratigraphy due to the study of terrestrial (i.e., Lago Grande di Monticchio, Lake Ohrid, Tenaghi Philippon, Lake Iznik) and marine palaeoenvironmental records (i.e., Sea of Marmara, Black Sea, Levantine Sea). Further projects involved tephra and cryptotephra (non-visible tephra) analyses in lake deposits in Patagonia, Mexico, Nicaragua, and northern central Europe.
