Research Profile:

  • Land-ocean-interaction on the northern South American continent based on variations of riverine input into the Atlantic Ocean and its influence on ocean circulation (e.g. Ba/Ca-measurements on planktic surface dwelling foraminifera within the Orinoco, Amazon and Paraíba do Sul outflow areas)
  • Reconstruction of ocean currents in the (sub)tropical Atlantic Ocean during glacial/interglacial changes in the late Pleistocene and Holocene (δ18O- and Mg/Ca-measurements on planktic and benthic foraminifera)
  • Reconstructing hydrological changes in (sub)tropical South America with focus on the low-latitude expressions of high-latitude climate forcing (variability of ITCZ and SACZ in the late Pleistocene and Holocene)
